meet the team!

As you know from our last blog post, things have shifted a bit at unboxing cycles in the last year. We went from a one-woman team to a two-woman team, back to a one-woman team, and now we have a team of 4+!

We are a group of individuals brought together by a shared purpose: to break the stigma surrounding the menstrual cycles and offer the kind of understanding many of us grew up without. By creating space for honest conversations and education, we help people reconnect with their bodies, reduce shame, and support both physical and mental well-being. When we understand our cycles, we understand ourselves, and that changes everything.

Here’s a brief introduction to the group of individuals currently behind the association, making everything happen. We’ve been somewhat quiet on socials, but we’re working hard in the background, shaping the next steps, planning (exciting) projects, spreading knowledge and connecting (so keep an eye on our newsletters and socials to stay in the loop!).

In the same order as in the picture:

Maja - Initiator and facilitator
Storyteller, photographer, creative thinker (a mind that never stops designing ideas) and awareness advocate who weaves together creativity, curiosity, and purpose to spark personal and collective transformation.

In her free time, she’s usually engaging in some kind of sport, seeking silence in nature, exploring new places, meeting individuals, exchanging ideas with creative minds, eating, and/or coming up with new ideas and working on projects that matter to her.

Lucyna - Word Magician and Experience Creator
Since she could remember, Lucyna has had a turbulent relationship with words. Verbalising her thoughts, emotions, and ideas was difficult until she put pen to paper. Now she combines her curiosity, natural storytelling, and drive to create spaces where everyone feels accepted.

In her free time, you can find her on skis or a mountain bike, sweaty and sometimes muddy and always with a smile. When the weather has other plans, she has her nose in a book or is dreaming up the next story she wants to tell.

Ily - Artist (when the mood strikes) and facilitator
While busy on a daily basis in the library-languages-plurilingualism-migration world, she also spends much time exploring and understanding female health, menstruation, sexual wellbeing and co. Inevitably mixed with openness, creativity, exchange and a little bit of chaos!

In her free time, she will probably be reading a book, sketching something new, hanging upside down on a pole (with limited success but great commitment!), or enthusiastically learning a new language. But what would free time even be without chit-chatting with good friends and enjoying activities together?!

Jemima - Menstrual cycle knowledge facilitator
Jewellery expert by day, cycle advocate by heart, Jemima channels her lifelong fascination with menstrual health into sharing knowledge that empowers menstruators to understand their bodies, honour their rhythms, and challenge the stigma around menstruation. She’s constantly reading, researching, and putting into practice how we relate to our cycles.

When she’s not reading a novel from her local library, you’ll find her lifting heavy things, running roads or trails, stretching it all out with mobility work, or simply knitting with her fibre arts group.

And beyond this core team, we’re lucky to be surrounded by other incredible individuals who support and co-create with us in the background.

One of them is Caro, who has been an absolute angel for the project. Based in the UK, Caro has accompanied unboxing cycles from the very beginning, generously sharing her knowledge and supporting us with strategic reflections, as well as creating documents and surveys that help us move forward. Her quiet yet powerful contributions have shaped much of what we’ve built so far. A special thank you also to Pati, Manu, Anu and the entire community who have been supporting the project since the beginning in so many different ways.

Although we’re spread across Switzerland (and Caro in the UK), we meet regularly over Zoom to brainstorm, plan, and dream up the next steps for unboxing cycles. Whenever possible, we meet in person to exchange ideas, connect more deeply, and, of course, eat delicious chocolate!

Recently, we had the chance to gather in Leysin and spend the day together. Lucy, our local guide, led us on a beautiful walk in the mountains, and we used the opportunity to visit Vermont Hub – the superb location where our retreat will take place this September. Registrations are open! Join us here.

Together, we’re experimenting, learning, and building this next chapter of unboxing cycles. It feels like we’re just getting started, and we’re so excited for what’s coming.

Thank you for being here and walking alongside us. If you haven’t yet, sign up for our newsletter to be the first to hear about upcoming projects and ways to get involved. Also, don’t forget to follow us on our Socials ;)
