SAVE THE DATE(S): Photographic Exhibition & Menstrual Cycle Festival

  • Labör 76 Affolternstrasse Zürich, ZH, 8050 Switzerland (map)

The menstrual cycle as a compass - know your cycle, know your body, know yourself.

From May 29 to June 3, 2026, a festival celebrating the menstrual cycle in Zurich, Switzerland, will feature a photographic exhibition and create space to spark conversations about cyclical health.

A collaboration between:

unboxing cycles: the number one hub on the menstrual cycle in Switzerland.

&

Labör: an experimental meeting space in a former copper workshop by the station in Oerlikon, Zurich.

About the photographic exhibition:

The menstrual cycle is often compared to the four seasons of nature, as each phase reflects the energy, mood, and qualities of winter, spring, summer, and autumn.

In 2024, photographer and founder of unboxing cycles Maja Juzwiak accompanied ten women from across Switzerland, each with different backgrounds, to symbolically portray their four menstrual cycle phases in nature, aligned with the corresponding seasons.

Before each shoot, Maja held a short conversation to understand each woman’s personality in that specific phase and to explore together how best to capture it through images.

The result is a collection of 40 photographs that tell the personal stories of these women and reveal the unique emotional landscapes they experience throughout their cycles. It is an inward journey that illustrates how our perceptions, emotions, and energies shift as we move through the different phases of the menstrual cycle.

About the Menstrual Cycle Festival:

On the weekend of May 30–31, we will use the exhibition space to host speakers, experts, workshops, artists, and community gatherings to foster exchange and share knowledge from various perspectives around the menstrual cycle. Scientists, doctors, and menstrual cycle experts from different fields will turn these two days into a deep immersion into the topic.

On Saturday, all talks and workshops will be held in English, while on Sunday, everything will be in German. This way, we aim to provide knowledge in both languages and make the event accessible to both locals and international participants.

The exhibition will be free of charge (donation-based) to ensure it is accessible to everyone. Everyone is welcome and invited - menstruators and non-menstruators.
