how will it look like?
this first project under the association will be a 360° initiative,
touchbasing the topics of art, education and health with
the menstrual cycle awareness at its core.
the project will deliver three interconnected results:
a photographic exhibition, where the fine-art prints will also be available for sale, a physical artistic Book and a digital hub (aka Website) where all complementary information will be stored and will act as a platform to the entire project.
read more about the individual deliverables below:
PHOTOGRAPHY
A visual representation of the cycle, shown artistically.
It will result in an exhibition with artistic photographs showcasing women in nature, demonstrating each phase conceptually (considering the mood, the season and the colours relevant to each menstrual phase). The menstruating women in the focus group (see "who?") will be the models of the photographs.
At the end of the project, the exhibition room created will be an opportunity to open the discussion on the topic and showcase the project's results (including the Journal and talks with experts). The images will also be part of the aesthetics of the Journal (see next section). The fine-art images will be available for sale, and 10% of the sale will be donated to an organisation of choice in a less privileged country.
The final result will be 48 photographs (one image per woman/season, equalling 12 images per season) exhibited in a room divided into four parts, each represented by a phase/season. Together with the photography, QR codes or text boxes will lead visitors to learn more about each phase and what it means for each individual who participated in the project, thus showing the uniqueness of the cycle to each menstruating woman.
BOOK
A co-created coffee table book about the menstrual cycle
(illustrating the images and content of the artistic exhibition)
A co-created photographic, artistic and informative coffee table-like book for individuals to learn about the menstrual cycles but in a visually attractive way.
In a nutshell, the exhibition mentioned previously in the form of a book. This tool shall aid bleeders and non-bleeders to better understand the cycle and to either apply the tips themselves or support those around them.
DIGITAL HUB
A database of information with everything around the cycle - a digital “enCYCLEpedia”
The digital hub will be a platform to act as the project's base, where one will find all background information, including research, further reading, menstrual products, recipes, exercise tips for each phase, a map connecting users to professionals, and any additional relevant information for both bleeders and non-bleeders. The webpage will also act as an e-commerce shop to sell the fine-art photographs, the book, period products from various brands and a fundraising platform for the organisation chosen to be supported throughout the project.
